Adding Overall Responsibilities
Overview
A Compliance Officer can add senior management functions to an employee profile, creating a statement of responsibility.
User Account Requirements
The user account used to log into Kroll's Managed Compliance Software must have Compliance Officer permission to access the SMCR Management section.
Navigation
- From the Home screen, click on the Home dropdown menu.

- Click the SMCR Management link.

- From the Employees screen, click the Roles & Responsibilities tab.

- From the Roles & Responsibilities screen, click on the Business Unit the employee is under to add senior functions to an employee's profile.

Adding Responsibilities
- From the Roles & Responsibilities screen, scroll to the Senior Management Functions tab.

- Click the SMCR Responsibilities tab.

- From the SMCR Responsibilities tab, click the + Create New link.

- From the Create a New Prescribed Responsibility pop-up, select a prescribed responsibility from the Prescribed Responsibility dropdown menu. Prescribe responsibilities are senior management responsibilities according to the FCA SYSC (Systems and Controls).
- (a): Performance obligations under the Senior Managers Regime.
- (aa): Responsible for the firm's UK risk management processes.
- (b): Performance obligations under the Certification Regime.
- (c): Responsible for compliance management responsibilities map.
- (d): Policy and Procedures that counter using a firm for financial crime.
- (ee): Responsible for escalating regulatory correspondence.
- (b-1): A firm's responsibility for conduct rules training and reporting.
- (f): Responsible for implementing induction, training, and professional development for members of the governing body.
- (ff): Responsible for UK compliance.
- (g): Responsible for implementing induction, training, and professional development for all members of the firm.
- (j): Responsible for internal audit functions under SMCR and PRA.
- (j-2): Responsible for overseeing internal audit functions under PRA paragraph (2), column (2), in row (14).
- (j-3): Responsible for ensuring all internal audit employees are independent from auditors.
- (k): Responsible for the compliance functions within the firm according to SMCR.
- (l): Responsible for risk functions within the firm according to SMCR.
- (m): Responsible for the firm's renumeration policies and practices according to SYSC 19D.
- (n): The firm's whistleblower champion.
- (s): Responsible for a firm's internal stress test.
- (t): Responsible for developing and maintaining the firm's business model.
- (z): Responsible for the firm's compliance with the CASS.
- (za): Responsible for allocation of responsibility for compliance.
Prescribed Responsibility Field
- Select a responsibility start date from the Calendar pop-up under the Start Date field by clicking a Date.

- Enter an employee name in the Employee field and select and employee from the dropdown menu to connect to the prescribe responsibility.

- Click the Create button to add the SMCR responsibility to the employee profile.

Adding Overall Responsibilities
- From the SMCR Responsibilities tab, scroll to the Overall Responsibilities section.

- Click on the + Create New link.

- From the Create a New Overall Responsibility pop-up, enter an overall responsibility in the Overall Responsibility field. Overall responsibilities ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards.

- Enter an employee name in the Employee field and select and employee from the dropdown menu to connect to the overall responsibility.

- Select the date the employee took on the overall responsibility from the Calendar pop-up under the Start Date field by clicking a Date.

- Enter a description of the employee's responsibilities in the Responsibility Description field.

- Click the Create button to add the overall responsibility to the employee's profile.

Adding Other Responsibilities
- From the SMCR Responsibilities tab, scroll to the Other Responsibilities section.

- Click on the + Create New link.

- From the Create a New Other Responsibility pop-up, enter an overall responsibility in the Other Responsibility field. Other responsibilities ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards.

- Enter an employee name in the Employee field and select and employee from the dropdown menu to connect to the other responsibility.
Employee Field
- Select the date the employee took on the other responsibility from the Calendar pop-up under the Start Date field, by clicking a Date.

- Indicate whether the other responsibility is a shared responsibility or not from the Shared dropdown menu.

- Enter a description of the other responsibility, including what the responsibility involves, in the Responsibility Description field.

- Click the Create button to add the other responsibility to the employee's profile.
